July 24, 2014: In a landmark decision, a court in Madhya Pradesh sentenced a man to death for hurling acid on a 28-year-old woman and killing her.
Three others including deceased's two cousins and grandmother had sustained injuries in an acid attack reported from Morena's Porsa town on July 21, 2013.

"To be hanged till death," upper session judge P C Gupta presiding judge ordered.
Rubi Gupta was at her parents' house at Porsa town in the district when Yogendra Singh Tomar, resident of Ambah knocked on the doors in the wee hours, entered the house and hurled acid on the woman.
Rubi sustained fatal burns all over her body in the attack. When the victim's cousins-Janu, 20 and Raju, 13-and grandmother Chandrakala, 60, offered resistance, Tomar threw acid on them too and fled. All four were rushed to the district hospital where Rubi succumbed to the burns. (Sources: timesofindia.indiatimes.com, 24/07/2014)
