BELARUS: A MURDER CONVICT EXECUTED
November 4, 2014: Authorities in Belarus executed a murder convict sentenced to death, reported the unregistered Vyasna (Spring) human rights center in Minsk.
Alyaksandr Hrunou was sentenced in 2013 after being convicted of stabbing a woman to death in 2012.
Vyasna cited Hrunou's mother as saying that she had received her son's belongings, including clothes he wore in a death row cell, by mail.
Vyasna also said it learned on 3 November that Hrunou's appeal for clemency was denied in early October.
Belarus is known to have executed two other convicts in April 2014.
Vyasna said at least one person remained on death row. (Sources: RFE/RL, 04/11/2014)
