BANGLADESH: MAN AWARDED DEATH PENALTY FOR N'GANJ MURDER

January 19, 2015: A court in Narayanganj (Bangladesh) awarded a man death sentenced in absentia for killing a woman in 2009.
The condemned convict was identified as Shamsu Miah, 40, of Dariakandi in Rupganj upazila of the district.
According to the prosecution, the convict stabbed Jamila Begum, of Dariakandi in Rupganj upazila, to death  over previous enmity on April 29, 2009. 
Later, a case was filed in this connection.
After examining the records and witnesses Additional District and Sessions Judge Miaji Shahidul Islam Chowdhury delivered the judgement. (Sources: Observer Online Report, 19/01/2015)
