TAIWAN: TAIPEI SUBWAY MURDERER SENTENCED TO DEATH IN SECOND TRIAL
October 30, 2015: A Taiwan court upheld the death sentence for Cheng Chieh, who was convicted of four murders and multiple attempts to kill in a knife attack on a subway train last year.
Cheng was sentenced to death in March for having killed four people and injuring 22 by randomly stabbing passengers on a moving train on May 21 last year.
He was 21 and a college student when he committed the crime.
The Taiwan high court, which heard Cheng's appeal, upheld the sentence of the first trial. He can appeal again. (Sources: Xinhua, 30/10/2015)
