BANGLADESH: MAN TO WALK GALLOWS FOR KILLING TWO YOUNGER BROTHERS
February 16, 2016: A Chittagong court convicted a man and sentenced him to death for killing his two younger brothers in 2013 following a family property dispute.
Second Additional District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Rabiuzzaman sentenced Abul Kalam of Sultanpur village in Raozan upazila to death and also fined him Tk 50,000.
According to the prosecution, Kalam stabbed his two younger brothers -- Abu Sufian and Abu Morshed - to death following a dispute over their ancestral property at Sultanpur village in Raozan upazila of Chittagong district on July 22, 2013.
Ismat Ara, wife of victim Abu Sufian, then filed a case with Raozan Police Station and police submitted a chargesheet against Kalam in October 2013.
Later, Kalam made his confessional statement before the court.
After examining the records and 14 witnesses, the Judge handed down the verdict today. (Sources: Sun Online Desk, 16/02/2016)
