BANGLADESH: TWO TO WALK GALLOWS FOR KILLING MINOR BOY
July 9, 2016: A court in Bangladesh sentenced two persons to death for murdering a minor boy in Pirgachha upazila of the Rangpur district in 2011, reports BSS.
Additional District and Sessions Judge of Court-2 of Rangpur Abu Jafar Mohammad Kamruzzaman handed down the verdict in presence of the convicted persons.
The convicted persons are Lazu Mian and Raihan Mian of the same village.
Trial of another charge-sheeted person Sabuz Mian, is now underway at a Juvenile Court as he is aged below 18 years.
According to prosecution, Lazu Mian, Raihan Mian and Sabuz Mian killed Swapan Mian, 12, son of Babu Mian of village Nazar Mamud to death in a nearby area at night on March 20 in 2011.
They murdered Swapan Mian to eliminate witness as he knew their conversations over mobile phone about love affairs. The local villagers immediately caught all of the three murderers red-handed and handed them over to Pirgachha Thana police on the same night.
Babu Mian, father of the victim, filed a murder case against the three killers with Pirgachha Thana in this connection.
After investigation into the case, Pirgachha Thana police submitted chargesheets against all of the three accused persons to the learned court on September 3 in 2011 when the process of trial began.
After examining witnesses and evidences, the court found accused Lazu Mian and Raihan Mian guilty beyond any doubt and announced the verdict in their presence. (Sources: BSS, 10/07/2016)
