INDONESIA: KILLERS SENTENCED TO DEATH
October 17, 2017: The Jakarta Timur Court sentenced Ridwan Sitorus and Erwin Situmorang to face the firing squad. Ridwan and Erwin killed one family in Pulomas, Jakarta, in their robbery attempt. The defendants’ lawyer Amudi Sidabutar said he will lodge an appeal. "We are against the ruling we will file an appeal," Amudi said. The panel of judges said in their consideration that the defendants evidently committed premediated murder in their robbery attempt in December 2016. However, Amudi denies this. "Facts in the field show that the defendants do not know the victims. The two defendants (Ridwan and Erwin) did survey around the house on 25 (December 2016), but they never entered the house," Amudi said. Amudi further argued that the 11 victims were forced into the bathroom (which eventually led to their death due to suffocation) to give the defendants room to take items from the house. It was the only room in the base floor, according to him. (Sources: gres.news, 18/10/2017)
