BANGLADESH: MAN SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR KILLING DISABLED WIFE, SON
February 23, 2021: A Kishoreganj court on 8 February 2021 awarded the death sentence to a man for killing his disabled wife and son. Additionally he was fined Tk 2 lakh. Kishoreganj additional district and session court judge Mohammad Abdur Rahim announced the verdict to Najrul Islam, 25. According to the prosecution, on 13 January 2017 the convict Najrul took his wife Rahima Khatun and son Amirul to travel around from then Rahima and her son went missing. Later on 21 January police recovered Rahima and Amirul’s body from Angiadi’s Beelbhora Beel area. Rahima’s brother filed a case in Pakundia police station in this connection, accusing four including Najrul. On 24 January 2018 the investigating officer submitted charge-sheet to the court accusing Najrul Islam. The court had announced Najrul death sentence according to penal code section 302, after judging all the witnesses and proofs of the case. (Source: UNB, 09/02/2021)
