A CROWDFUNDING CAMPAIGN FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE PRISON LIFE INDEX 

November 17, 2021:

Prison Insider is appealing for individual donations to support the construction of the Prison Life Index. 
The work around the Prison Life Index has been carried out using Prison Insider's own funds. 
The association now needs to bring together people sensitive to this issue to ensure the project takes off. 
The sum of 25,000 euros is sought before the end of November.

The Prison Life Index is a tool for rating state prison policies, from rule making to implementation. The final ratings will be based on dozens of indicators related to the living conditions of those detained. These scores fall into four categories which represent the main aspects of life in detention: “being connected”, “being active”, “being safe”, “eating, sleeping, taking care of oneself”. The index is compiled from the main international legal instruments on detention.
This tool will allow detained persons, their relatives and anyone working in prison to make known the conditions of detention; citizens to compare and evaluate the results of policies in order to take part in the public debate; to those who are decision-makers or who act in prison areas to obtain information in order to act on the policies and practices of imprisonment.
Prison Insider is a platform for producing and disseminating information on prisons around the world. Its objective is to inform, compare and testify on the conditions of detention with regard to fundamental rights.
