January 9, 2023: Rashid Lawandpour executed in Karaj on January 9
On Sunday, January 8, 2023, Rashid Lawandpour, along with 7 other prisoners sentenced to death, was transferred to solitary confinement from hall 2 of Rajaei Shahr prison of Karaj.
Lawandpour, 27 years old, a Kurdish citizen from Urmia, was executed the following day, after 5 years in prison for drug possession.
His family was not allowed to see their son for the last time. The family of this prisoner, along with a number of other prisoners’ families, spent the night in front of Karaj Central Prison.
There is no information about the status of the other 7 prisoners who were transferred to solitary confinement in the central prison of Karaj.
