Political prisoner Shahryar Bayat previously sentenced to 18 years in prison by the first branch of the Shahryar Revolutionary Court. According to his family members, Shahryar Bayat sent on leave from Evin prison on March 17, 2024. On the last day of his leave on March 24, 2024, his death sentence registered in the Sana system and notified to him upon his return to prison. This sentence issued on February 14, 2024, by Branch 13 of the Criminal Court of a Tehran province under the counsel of Saeed Shrafati and Ali Taghian. It is necessary to remember that earlier, a Prohibition order issued for this political prisoner, Shahriar Bayat, due to the above-mentioned charges in Shahriar’s Public Prosecutor’s Office and Revolution. The political prisoner Shahryar Bayat was arrested by the security forces at his home in Shahryar during nationwide protests on September 25, 2022, and was transferred to the Greater Tehran Prison. After some time, he transferred to ward 6 of Evin prison. He also sentenced to 5 years in prison for conspiracy and committing a crime against the country’s security. He also sentenced to 10 years in prison for the charge of forming and managing illegal groups. The total of these sentences is 18 years of imprisonment, of which 10 years are enforceable. Earlier, in August 2023, in a letter to the judicial authorities, he wrote: “I, at the age of 63, for the first time in my life, find myself in such a place. Without any practical or field activity, only because the multitude and diversity of content in my phone, circulating billions of such content daily in the world, with the utmost shamelessness and audacity, by entering the personal and private space of my mobile phone, have fabricated a case against me from its contents.” Political prisoner Shahriar Biyat, born in 1960, a retired employee, married, and a resident of Shahr-e Ray County.
