IRAN - 64th Week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign
April 15, 2025: April 15, 2025 - IRAN. The 64th Week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign in 40 Prisons Across Iran
On Tuesday, April 15, 2025, the 64th week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign is taking place in 40 Prisons.
The statement for the 64th week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign is as follows:
64th “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign in 40 Prisons
With the recent participation of the women’s ward in Zahedan Prison and Azbaram Lahijan Prison, the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign has expanded to 40 prisons in its 64th week.
The debilitated regime of the Supreme Leader, mired in escalating internal and international crises, has intensified executions as a tool to prevent public uprisings, in line with its long-standing practice. On just April 8 and 9, 2025, the regime executed 11 and 18 prisoners, respectively.
Among those executed were 5 political and ideological prisoners:
Malek Ali Fadaei Nasab, Farhad Shakeri, Taj-Mohammad Khormali, Abdolrahman Gorgij, and Abdolhakim Azim Gorgij, who were hanged in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad after enduring ten years of imprisonment and torture.
Furthermore, on the morning of Monday, April 14, 2025, a 22-year-old Baluch prisoner named Ali Dahani, who had been arrested during the nationwide protests in November 2022 following the massacre of nearly 100 people during Bloody Friday in Zahedan and Khash, was executed in Zahedan Central Prison. He had been accused of killing four government agents in Bampur County and was denied the right to a fair trial.
In addition, a juvenile prisoner named Behzad, who was under the legal age at the time of the alleged offense, was executed in Gonbad-e Kavus Prison.
Between April 8 and April 14, 2025, over 18 Baluch prisoners were executed.
These widespread and egregious human rights violations in Iran—which we witness daily—serve as an urgent warning to civil society, human rights defenders, and international organizations: any inaction or complacency in the face of this authoritarian regime will cost the lives of more oppressed individuals and prisoners.
The “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign, now active in 40 prisons following the joining of female prisoners from Zahedan and Azbaram Lahijan, continues to stand against the inhumane practice of capital punishment with every means at its disposal. The campaign calls on all international human rights and political organizations to amplify the voices of Iran’s people and prisoners. Dozens of political and ideological prisoners, along with thousands of others convicted of general offenses, are currently under death sentence, most of whom have been denied even the most basic right to a fair and impartial trial.
On Tuesday, April 15, 2025, the following 40 prisons will observe the 64th week of the campaign with a collective hunger strike:
Evin Prison (Women’s Ward, Wards 4 & 8) Qezel-Hesar Prison (Units 3 & 4) Karaj Central Prison Greater Tehran Prison Khorin Varamin Prison Choubindar Qazvin Prison Arak Prison Khorramabad Prison Asadabad Isfahan Prison Dastgerd Isfahan Prison Sheyban Ahvaz Prison Sepidar Ahvaz Prison (Men’s and Women’s Wards) Shiraz Nezam Prison Adelabad Shiraz Prison (Men’s and Women’s Wards) Borazjan Prison Ramhormoz Prison Bam Prison Kahnooj Prison Tabas Prison Jovin Prison Vakilabad Mashhad Prison Gonbad-e Kavus Prison Qaemshahr Prison Rasht Prison (Men’s and Women’s Wards) Rudsar Prison Haviq Talesh Prison Dizelabad Kermanshah Prison Ardabil Prison Tabriz Prison Urmia Prison Salmas Prison Khoy Prison Naqadeh Prison Miandoab Prison Saqqez Prison Baneh Prison Marivan Prison Kamyaran Prison Zahedan Prison (Women’s Ward) Azbaram Lahijan Prison
