BAHRAIN. TWO BANGLADESHI NATIONALS SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR MURDER
July 10, 2005: two people were sentenced to death for the murder of a Bahraini housewife, Latifa Abdulla Abdulaziz. The Bangladeshi nationals were convicted of killing mother-of-two Abdulaziz by hitting her on the skull with a pickaxe and then smashing a plank embedded with nails into the side of her head and face. They then strangled the 49-year-old and hid her body in a chicken shed, before searching her home in vain for gold and cash in November 2004. Mrs Abdulaziz's maid Jasmine Anwar Hussain, aged 23, and her 33-year-old accomplice Mohammed Hilaluddine were sentenced to death for the murder by Judge Abdulrahman Al Sayed, who described the crime as the most brutal he had ever dealt with in Bahrain.
