IRAN. CONVICTED MURDER HANGED
September 3, 2005: Houshang Bameri, an Iranian man convicted of murder and armed robbery was hanged in the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan. Bameri had been convicted of killing two policemen and was arrested two years previously while stealing a truck. The hanging took place in the small town of Delgan, but it was not clear if the execution was in public.
The hanging brought to at least 56 the number of executions carried out in Iran so far this year. (Sources: Agence France Presse, 04/09/2005)
