CHINA. TRADE OFFICIAL EXECUTED FOR CORRUPTION
April 26, 2006: a trade official convicted of corruption in northern China's Hebei province was executed. Li Youchan was executed after being convicted of accepting 47 million yuan (5.86 million dollars) in bribes when he served as the vice head of the province's foreign trade bureau.
He was convicted and sentenced to death by the Hengshui intermediate court in September 2004.
His crimes occurred between 2001 and 2003, when Li also served as the head of the Hebei Electrical Machinery Import and Export Office.
