JAPAN. DEATH SENTENCE FOR MURDERING TWO RELATIVES
March 17, 2008: a man who murdered and robbed two relatives in Kyoto and Kanagawa prefectures in January, 2007, was sentenced to death by the Kyoto District Court in Japan.
Kyozo Matsumura, 26, unemployed and of no fixed address, was convicted of killing his aunt Yoriko Iwai, 57, at her home in Nagaokakyo on January 16, 2007.
The court heard he stabbed her in the neck and stole 20,000 yen.
On January 23, 2007, he killed his great uncle Junichi Kato, 72, at his home in Sagamihara, Kanagawa Prefecture, and stole about 13,000 yen in cash, the court found. (Sources: Mainichi Daily News, 18/03/2008)
