IRAN TOUGHENS RULES FOR CARRYING ILLEGAL ARMS
November 8, 2008: the head of the Revolution and Public Prosecutor of the provincial capital Zahedan, Marziyeha, in the southeastern Iranian province of Sistan-Baluchestan said that those fighting security and military officials with weapons would be sentenced to death, the Iranian state-run provincial Hamun TV reported. Under the law, illegal weapons are those smuggled in the country, used in anti-security activities, in clashes with security and military officials and in smuggling drugs in and out of the country, the TV said. The Hamun TV quoted Marziyeh as saying that according to the law, the Law Enforcement Forces and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps can only issue a permission for possession of arms.
