TAIWAN: MINISTER VOWS TO UPHOLD JUDICIAL SOVEREIGNTY
March 9, 2011: Taiwan's Justice Minister pledged that he will not suspend the implementation of the death penalty. âWe will not compromise or make concessions since the matter concerns the nation's judicial sovereignty,â Tseng said. However, the Justice Minister also noted that his ministry is preparing a position paper that will cover the reasons and cultural background behind the implementation of the death penalty in Taiwan.
