IRAN: THREE MEN HANGED IN ISFAHAN
May 19, 2011: Iran hanged three men in Isfahan after convicting them of murder and drug smuggling, the city's prosecutor was quoted as saying, denying reports the executions were politically motivated.
Morad Dehesh and Mehdi Nikraftar were executed after being convicted for their "involvement in the killing of a police officer, in addition of having other priors," Mohammad Reza Habibi said on the provincial justice department's website.
A third man, Taqi Nouri Aloyjeh, who also had priors, was hanged after he was arrested while carrying 27 kilograms of opium, said Habibi. (Sources: Agence France Presse, 19/05/2011)
