UNITED ARAB EMIRATES: DEATH PENALTY COMMUTED
October 27, 2011: the Appellate Court in Ras Al Khaimah, the United Arab Emirates, commuted the death sentence to three years in jail, to be followed by deportation, after the parents of the victim forgave the suspect. The unidentified Asian suspect allegedly killed the victim in the summer of 2008 by hitting him with a rock over a dispute regarding rent and bills. (Sources: Gulf Today, 27/10/2011)
