AFGHANISTAN: WOMAN EXTRA-JUDICIALLY EXECUTED OVER ILLICIT RELATIONS
March 31, 2012: an Afghan woman was extra-judicially executed, after being sentenced to death for having illicit relationship with a stranger man, local authorities in eastern Paktia province reported.
Provincial security officials said the woman was killed in Shobak district following a verdict by the tribal elders.
Provincial police chief Zalmai Oryakhel said the two brothers of the victim have been arrested by Afghan security forces for being involved behind the incident. It is said that the Afghan woman was sentenced to death with the cooperation of her two brothers.
Oryakhel further added that the man who was accused of having illicit relationship with the Afghan woman was serving at a jail in Kabul and was freed from the prison.
