INDIA: MAN GETS CAPITAL PUNISHMENT FOR KIDNAPPING, MURDER
March 31, 2012: In India, District and sessions court of Surat city awarded capital punishment to a man for kidnapping and murdering a young boy.
After hearing both the sides, District and Sessions Judge M H Shah awarded death sentence to Parvez Rana who had kidnapped and murdered the boy, Nayan Kachrola, on January four, 2007.
Rana had kidnapped the young son of diamond merchant Hasmukh Kachrola who was living in his neighbourhood in Surat in South Gujarat and demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh. But, next day, the body of Nayan was recovered.
After intensive investigation, the police zeroed in on Rana who was Kachrola's neighbour. After a five-year-long trial, Rana was awarded with the capital punishment. (Source: UNI, 31/03/2012)
