MALAYSIA: MYANMAR REFUGEES TO HANG FOR DRUGS
April 30, 2012: Three Myanmar refugees have been sentenced to death in Myanmar for drug trafficking.
A High Court in Alor Setar sent labourers Noor Mohamad Zakaria and Taher Ahmad Mustafa Ahmad, both 33, and factory worker M.G. Myint Tun, 26, to the gallows after finding them guilty of trafficking 56.22gm of drugs containing 48gms of heroin and 8.02gm of moacetylmorphines.
The trio, who hold United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) cards, were jointly charged with committing the offence at about 9.45pm on Sept 6, 2010 at the parking area of a petrol station in Taman Sejati in Sungai Petani. (Sources: thestar.com.my, 30/04/2012)
