IRAN: THREE PRISONERS HANGED IN ZAHEDAN
December 8, 2012: In Iran, three prisoners convicted of drug-related charges were hanged in the prison of Zahedan early in the morning, the news agency IRNA reported.
The prisoners were identified as Iraj M., convicted of possession of 189 kilos of heroin, Mahmood T., convicted of possession and carrying 386 kilos of opium and 149 kilos of heroin, and Nematollah A. for importing 5,700 grams of crack.
According to Human Rights and Democracy Activists in Iran, one of the prisoners is Iraj Mohammadi (46) from Kermanshah (western Iran) who was sentenced to death solely based on confessions made by another prisoner against him. (Sources: Iran Human Rights, 08/12/2012)
