June 9, 2014: a Saudi court in Jeddah sentenced two people to death and jailed a third for 25 years after they were convicted of involvement in anti-government Shiite protests staged in the Eastern Province since February 2011.
The two defendants sentenced to death were convicted of âtaking part in forming a terrorist groupâ and âattacking security forces, as well as public and private property,â said the official SPA news agency.
One of the two was also found guilty of leading and inciting protests in the restive Shiite village of Awamiya, and firing at security forces, as well as writing anti-regime graffiti on walls, it added. (Sources: AFP, 09/06/2014)
