PAKISTAN: TWO PRISONERS HANGED IN LAHORE AND SAHIWAL
April 7, 2015: two convicted murderers were hanged to death in Lahore and Sahiwal jails, bringing the number of executions to 66 since their resumption in December 2014.
Jafar alias Kali was executed in the prison of Sahiwal. He had been convicted in 2000 of killing two siblings, Khalil and Sadia, over a land dispute in 1997.
Another prisoner, Tayyab Ghulam Nabi, was executed at the Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore. He was convicted by a district court in a murder case in Toba Tek Singh. He had killed Abrar during a scuffle in 2002.
The review petitions of the convicts were rejected by the higher and superior courts, while their mercy appeal had also been turned down by the President of Pakistan. (Sources: Dawn.com, 07/04/2015)
