PAKISTAN: TEN OTHER CONVICTED OF MURDER HANGED IN VARIOUS CITIES

June 17, 2015: Another ten murder convicts were executed between 16 and 17 June in five different prisons of the country, raising the total number of executions to at least 181 since Pakistan reversed the self-imposed moratorium on the death penalty in December 2014 after the Taliban school massacre.
On 16 June 2015, the Adiala Jail’s authorities hanged three more murder convicts who had killed six people over old enmity in Chakwal district in 1990. They were identified as Javed, Ikram Hussain and Raffiq.
On 17 June 2015, three death row inmates were hanged in Faisalabad’s Central Jail. Nabeel Ahmad had killed a man over a feud in 2000 while Muhammed Saleem and Rashid alias Arshad had killed a man in 1998 over an old enmity.
Two more death row convicts were executed in the Central Jail of Sahiwal. Fayyaz was found guilty of killing a man in 2003 while Qaisar had killed a man in 2004 in a robbery attempt.
Another murder convict, Muhammed Aslam, was executed in Mianwali’s Central Jail for killing a man and his son over a domestic dispute in February 1997, while Muhammad Iqbal alias Bala was sent to the gallows in the District Jail of Gujrat for killing a man in 1995.
