IRAN: YOUNG PRISONER HANGED IN PUBLIC IN EAST AZERBAIJAN
January 7, 2016: Late morning a prisoner was hanged in public on murder charges in the Iranian province of East Azerbaijan.
According to Iran state run media Tabnak, a 25-year-old prisoner was hanged in public at a city square in Shabestar.
The report does not mention the name of the prisoner.
Unofficial reports identify the prisoner as Reza Jalili Alishahi.
According to photos IHR retrieved from Alishahi's execution, young children were present among the crowd who showed up to watch the hanging. (Source: Iran Human Rights, January 8, 2016)
