EGYPT: POLICE OFFICER SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR KILLING 3 COUSINS OVER ‘WITCHCRAFT’
March 6, 2016: Zagazig Criminal Court sentenced a police officer to death for murdering his three cousins, who he accused of practicing “black magic” against him.
The court ruling came after the Grand Mufti gave approval for the sentence, a key judicial procedure for death sentences.
Investigators said the incident, which dates back to September 2012, resulted from family disagreements between the victims and the police officer.
Local villagers persuaded him that his constant illness was the result of black magic practiced by his cousins via a sorcerer.
Enraged, the policeman shot the trio dead as they exited a local mosque after prayers. (Sources: 07/03/2016, MENA)
