SOMALIA: COURT SENTENCES 5 TO DEATH OVER RESTAURANT BOMBING
March 12, 2016: Somalia’s military tribunal sentenced five suspects to death for their roles in the recent deadly suicide bombings in a southwestern city that killed at least 30 people, Horseed Media reports.
Hassan Ali Nur Shute, Somalia’s military court chief said that evidences were found that the suspects had a hand in the suicide bombings claimed by al-Shabaab.
The military court also gave one other suspect a prison sentence of three years.
The men were arrested by security forces moments after the attack.
On the evening of 29th February, a suicide bomber blew himself up at a restaurant where people were watching a football match. The attack was followed by another one which occurred at a busy junction. (Sources: Horseed Media, 12/03/2016)
