TEXAS (USA): COY WAYNE WESBROOK EXECUTED
March 9, 2016: Coy Wayne Wesbrook, 58, White, was executed. The execution was delayed about 90 minutes due to a last minute appeal. Wesbrook was convicted of murdering five people on Nov. 13, 1997.
He was sentenced to death for two of the killings, that of his second ex-wife, Gloria Coons, and of Antonio Cruz at the woman's  apartment. Wesbrook testified at his trial that he and his ex-wife had talked about reconciling and then he showed up at her apartment and found people partying.
He said she humiliated him by having sex with two men while he was there and that some at the party taunted him as he tried to leave. He grabbed a rifle from his truck and shot all five people there.
The other victims were Ruth Mooney, Anthony Rogers and Kelly Hazlip. Afterward, he announced to neighbors what he had done and waited for police.
Wesbrook became the eighth inmate executed this year in the U.S., the 1,430th person executed in the United States since 1976, the fourth in Texas this year and the 535th person executed in Texas since the state resumed executions in 1982. (Source: Houston Chronicle, 09/03/2016)
