BANGLADESH: WOMAN SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR KILLING HUSBAND
June 6, 2016: A court in Bangladesh awarded death sentence to a woman for killing her husband.
Magistrate of Metropolitan Session court Akbar Hossain Mridha passed the order in the afternoon.
Source said, Fateha Mashruka, first wife of Tabligh Jamaat activist Ibrahim Abu Khalil, got death penalty and fined Tk one thousand for killing her husband.
Earlier, on May 19, 2015, Mashruka gave confessional statement before court under section 164 and said she killed her husband fearing insecurity over his multiple marriages.
Police recovered the dead body of Khalil, 55, son of Saad Uddin Al Habib of House no-1 of Chardighirpara in Sylhet, from his bed room on May 18, 2015 morning.
