October 8, 2016: A court in the Gaza Strip sentenced a Palestinian man to death by hanging, after convicting him in the premeditated murder of a 13-year-old girl.
Dalia Abu Ghraba was killed by a bullet in the head after a dispute broke out on Nov. 12, 2011 between two families east of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip.
A court in Khan Yunis condemned 16 members of the two families who were involved in the dispute, and sentenced five of them to prison.
The one convicted of murdering Abu Ghraba was sentenced to death by hanging, while another was sentenced to 15 years of prison.
Four others were sentenced to five years in prison for attempted murder and possession of unlicensed weapons. The court ruled that the remaining ten involved in the dispute, who have been detained since November 2011, would be released. (Sources: Maâan, 09/10/2016)
