The condemned convicts are Hasen Ali, 35, and Munna of Kalmakanda upazila, Abdul Malek of Sirajdikhan upazila in Munshiganj and Selim Sarker of Sreepur upazila in Gazipur district. According to the prosecution, the convicts hired the microbus of Solaiman, 45, of Mobarakpur village in Sadar upazila for going to Gazipur on 16 January 2013. When the microbus was heading towards Gazipur, the convicts strangulated Solaiman to death and threw the body out of the vehicle before hijacking it. Following interrogation, police recovered the body of Solaiman in Sreepur upazila. Later, victim's nephew Nurul Amin filed a case with Netrakona police station against eight people. On 26 March 2014, police submitted a charge-sheet against five accused. After examining the records and witnesses, district and sessions judge KM Rasheduzzaman Raja handed down the verdict.
