BANGLADESH: 3 TO WALK GALLOWS FOR KILLING WOMAN AFTER RAPE
May 28, 2018: A tribunal in Narayanganj awarded capital punishment to three people for killing a garment worker after rape. The court also fined the convicts Tk one lakh each and asked to pay the money to the victim's family. The condemned convicts are Nasiruddin Bitol, 40, Khokon Mia, 32, and Sufun, 34. They all hail from Kushiara area in Bandar upazila. Special public prosecutor of the court Rakibuddin said the convicts gang raped RMG worker Asma Akhter, 28, killed her and then dumped the body in a ditch on March 12, 2008. The victim's father Raza Mia, later, filed a case. After examine the records and witness, Narayanganj Women and Children Repression prevention Tribunal judge M Jewel Rana handed down the verdict.
