IRAQ: DEATH SENTENCE FOR DA’ISH MEMBER IN SYRIAN RIQA CITY
October 12, 2018: An Iraqi court sentenced to death the Lebanese leading member in Da’ish (ISIS) organization Tariq al-Khayat, Iraq TradeLink reported on 11 October 2018. Khayat, 46, was handed over by the US forces to Iraqi authorities before one year, while handing over 8 Lebanese people who were fighting with the ranks of Da’ish. He stood before the Iraqi judge with one leg, which was amputated in one of the battles, to confess that he was the financial officer of Da’ish organization in Riqa city. The court appointed a lawyer for him, because he had no one. During the court procedures, Khayat confessed he left for Syria, with his wife and two sons, to join Da’ish organization. His two sons were killed in the battles there. He denied planning in bombing the Emirates plane over the Australian capital, Sydney, in the past year.
