MALAYSIA: SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING
October 17, 2018: Judicial Commissioner Datuk Abdul Wahab Mohamed of the Penang High Court on 8 October 2018 sentenced Keow Sze Teve, 36, to death for dangerous drug trafficking and 16 years jail with 12 strokes of rotan for possession of firearms and bullets. The accused was represented by lawyer C. Ravi while Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) S. Selvaranjini prosecuted the case. Keow was accused of trafficking 512.2 grams and 474 grams of methamphetamine at Jalan Impian Ria, Taman Impian Ria, Machang Bubok on June 19, 2015. The offence was punishable under Section 39B(2) of the Dangerous Drug Act which carries the mandatory death upon conviction. In his testimony, the accused said that his wife sent him to the location and the drugs were found inside the car. He denied that it was his car and in fact it was borrowed from his friend.
