VIETNAM: DRUG TRAFFICKER SENTENCED TO DEATH
February 27, 2020: A 31-year-old Vietnamese woman on 25 February 2020 was sentenced to death for trafficking nearly 8 kg of methamphetamine, Vietnam News Agency reported. The court in the southern Tay Ninh province handed down the death penalty to Nguyen Hang Ni from Vietnam's southern Ho Chi Minh City. The woman admitted that in early 2019 she was hired by a man from Africa to send drug from Vietnam to another country at the wage of 500 to 1,000 U.S. dollars. On 17 July 2019, the woman was caught red-handed with 7.8 kg of methamphetamine in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City where she came to pick up the drug transported from Cambodia to Vietnam, the news agency reported.
