BANGLADESH: TWO GET DEATH PENALTY FOR KILLING KHULNA COLLEGE TEACHER
March 15, 2021: A Khulna court sentenced two accused to death on 15 March 2021 for killing a teacher of Shahid Abul Kashem Degree College in 2017. The verdict was issued by Khulna Public Safety Disturbance Crime Prevention Tribunal Judge Saifuzzaman, the tribunal's bench assistant Murad Hossain told our Khulna correspondent. The tribunal also acquitted eight others as charges brought against them could not be proved. The convicts are: Raju Munshi alias Gaal Kata Raju and Tuhin Gazi; Raju Munshi remains absconding. According to sources and case statement, police recovered Chittaranjan Bain's body from his home at Amtala in Khulna's Sher-e-Bangla Road area on 14 January 2017. He was a lecturer at the English department of Shahid Abul Kashem Degree College. The victim's brother Subal Bain filed the murder case on 16 January of the same year.
