IRAN. FIVE PEOPLE HANGED IN DIFFERENT CITIES
October 24, 2007: Iran hanged five men convicted of murder, rape and kidnapping in different cities in the latest of a growing number of executions in the Islamic republic. The Kayhan newspaper reported that Mohammad A. killed Mohsen Mardha and stole his car and cash worth 360 dollars. He was executed in prison in central city of Isfahan. The governmental Iran newspaper reported that Mehran killed 16 year old Jaber some six years ago, and also killed the husband of a woman he then married. He was hanged in public in Kazeroun. The website of Iranian state broadcasting also reported that three men were hanged in a prison in the southeastern city of Zahedan after being convicted of rape and kidnapping.
