LEBANON: MILITARY COURT SENTENCES ISRAELI COLLABORATOR TO DEATH
May 9, 2011: a man accused of spying for Israel was sentenced to death in absentia in Lebanon by the Military Tribunal.
The tribunal, headed by General Nizar Khalil, condemned Hassan Ahmad Abdullah, who is at large, to death, while his accomplice Mohammad Ali Barakat, who is in custody, was sentenced to 10 years of hard labor. Both men were charged with âcollaborating with Israeli intelligence services and with providing them with information on Hezbollah and its resistance members before, during and after the July [2006] war [with Israel], in exchange for money.â (Sources: Daily Star, 10/05/2011)
