IRAN: SCORNED SUITOR HANGED
November 3, 2011: one man, who was identified as Z. K., was hanged publicly in the town of Noor Abad (Lorestan province west of Iran) early in the morning, reported the Iranian state media. According to the Iranian national broadcasting website Jamejamonline, the man was convicted of murdering the mother, brother and sister of a young girl he was in love with. The incident happened after the family of the girl didnât agree to his marriage proposal with their daughter, said the report. He was arrested two months after the incident and the security forces drove him around the town on display. The court sentenced him to three times retribution (qesas), the sentence was approved by the Supreme Court and he was hanged publicly in the townâs Imam Square. The whole process took 49 days according to the report. The report also said that the execution was carried out by the girl (whose mother and siblings were killed).
