SAUDI ARABIA: SUDANESE MAN BEHEADED AND CRUCIFIED
April 20, 2012: A Sudanese man was the twentieth person this year to be executed in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The public execution took place in Riyadh after Friday prayers.
According to the Saudi Gazette the Ministry of the Interior announced Abdulrahman Zine Elabidine was beheaded and crucified after being convicted of rape and murder. The executed man had also stolen $44,000 and gold jewelery from his victim before strangling her as she slept. He then committed arson by setting the victim's house on fire.
In March, Digital Journal reported that another murderer was also executed by beheading and crucifixion, noting that the executed are first beheaded before their head is reattached and crucifixion takes place. (Sources: digitaljournal.com, 21/04/2012)
