IRAN: TWO EXECUTIONS IN SHAHR-E-KORD
October 2, 2013: Two people were hanged in central prison of Shahr-e-Kord, Iran.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), one of these prisoners, with the name of Behnam Karimian, was charged with murdering his girlfriend, 6 years ago.
A source who wanted to remain anonymous, told to HRANA`s reporter: âBehnam Karimian, who was an electronic engineering student, was driving. He and his girlfriend started to argue. The girl suddenly opened the door and jumped out. Sadly, the girl died. Behnam Karimian went to prison on charge of murder. First time, the death penalty was sentenced by Shahr-e-Kord court. Supreme Court, denied the sentence and set the case to counterpart court. Again death penalty was sentenced. His father who is a retired employee of telecommunication company of Iran, was ready to sell his house to prevent execution. Behnam Karimian was managing the library of ward number one of prison. Besides, he was active in organizing Quran classes and religious ceremonies.â
There is no information about the name of the second person who has executed.
Official authorities did not publicize these two executions, and that increases the concern of human right organizations, about the numbers of not announced execution.
