TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO: COURT SENTENCES LAVENTILLE MAN TO HANG OVER A 2006 MURDER
July 18, 2015: the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has stated that Sheldon Lloyd Carter, of Upper St. Barbs Road, Laventille, has been convicted and sentenced to hang for the murder of No 10687 Private Karim Parks in 2006.
On 26th December 2006, around 8:00pm, Private Parks of the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment was sitting on his motor car at Upper Laventille, Block 22 when Sheldon Carter approached another man, fired a shot at him and missed.
He turned to a second man, pointed the firearm at him then turned to 26 year old, Private Karim Parks and fired a shot in his direction, which struck him in his stomach.
He was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital where he died shortly after arrival.
Carter, who was 19 years old at the time of the shooting incident, was arrested by members of the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment on 22nd January, 2007 and handed over to Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
Hearing on the matter commenced on 8th June, 2015 and on Friday 17th July, 2015 Carter was sentenced to hang by Justice Rampersad at the Port of Spain 3rd criminal court.
