PAKISTAN. TWO CONVICTS TO BE EXECUTED IN CENTRAL JAIL KARACHI
June 1, 2006: two pakistani, involved in a murder case, will be hanged in Karachi central jail on June 6, and June 8, respectively as an anti terrorist court has issued their black warrants following dismissal of their all the appeals.
The accused had been awarded death sentence by an anti terrorist court in Karachi in a murder case a few years ago. The convicts had challenged their conviction in the Sindh High Court and later in the Supreme Court, however, their appeals were rejected by the respective courts.
Later, their mercy appeal was also rejected by by President General Pervez Musharraf.
It may be mentioned that it will be the first hanging after a lapse of two years at the central jail. Shaikh Amjad, convicted in a kidnap for ransom and murder case, was the last convict hanged in central jail on March 4, 2004. (Sources: www.paktribune.com, 01/06/2006)
