CHINA. WOMAN EXECUTED FOR KILLING NIECE
June 9, 2006: a court in China’s Yunnan Province executed a woman who drowned her niece. Lei Hemei, a 38-year-old widow, committed the crime to get back at her mother-in-law who prevented her remarrying, the court in Qujing City heard. On July 25, Lei lured her two nieces, 4 and 5 years old, to a river near her village.
