SAUDI ARABIA: HIGH COURT UPHOLDS CRUCIFIXION IN CHILD MURDER CASE
November 3, 2009: a Saudi Arabian court upheld a sentence to behead and then crucify a 22-year-old man convicted of raping five children and murdering one of them.
The 3-year-old child was left in the desert to die, the Jeddah-based Okaz newspaper reported.
The sentence was imposed in the town of Hail and upheld by a higher court in the capital, Riyadh.
The defendant was arrested this year during a police investigation that was helped by a 7-year- old boy, the newspaper said. (Sources: Bloomberg, 03/11/2009)
