YEMEN: TEENAGER SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR RAPE AND MURDER
November 10, 2009: A teenager who raped and killed a girl child was sentenced to death by a Taiz Primary Court and also fined US$1,500, Yemen's Saba news agency reported.
Akram Al-Samawi, 18, was found guilty of raping and killing Nusaiba Nadir Al-Sharabi as well as throwing her body from the fourth floor of a building on Aug 7.
He was also convicted of robbery and torture, Saba reported.
According to the official state news agency Al-Samawi induced the girl to the roof of his house, hit her head with a stone many times, damaged her jaws and stifled her.
He then raped her and also took her earrings. After the crime he threw her body from the fourth floor.
Earlier a medical committee said Al-Samawi was above legal age after doubts were cast over his health and age. (Sources: BERNAMA, 10/11/2009)
