INDIA: COP GETS DEATH PENALTY FOR KILLING 3 BIHAR STUDENTS IN FAKE ENCOUNTER
June 24, 2014: Finally delivering justice for the three teenage students who were killed in a fake gun-battle 12 years ago in Patna, a court in Bihar sentenced a police officer to death.
The accused cop Shamse Alam was sentenced to capital punishment while Constable Arun Kumar and six others were given to life imprisonment till death for conducting the fake encounter of those three innocent youths.
The chargesheet claims that the three students - Vikash Ranjan, Prashant Singh and Himanshu Shekhar - were assassinated in the fake shootout at a market near Ashiyana Nagar area on December 28, 2002 in Patna.
The six shopkeepers of the Sammelan market were found guilty of attempt to murder. In the investigation, it has been revealed that they had beaten the students very brutally following a brawl over the payment of a STD bill.
After beating them badly, the shopkeepers called the police and handed the three students to them saying that after committing the theft they were trying to escape. The cops later shot the students and dubbed them as robbers in police records. (Sources: pardaphash.com, 24/06/2014)
